Well Thursday was epic. There was heartbreak for Keri- Anne Payne and abject humiliation for the men’s hockey team. But there was also glory in the women’s boxing , a Welsh teenage taekwondo sensation , the world’s greatest sprinter , the world’s greatest 800 metre race , and the sweet ,sweet victory of a horse dancing to Elgar. Today’s blog as a result has a wildly optimistic feel.
1. MCKEEVER !
Who ? Welcome to Ed Mckeever , nicknamed the “Usain Bolt of kayaking”, and the favourite to take the 200 metre sprint. He goes in heats this morning so we will get a clear idea of what he’s up for. We also have chances in the two man kayak over the same distance.
2. FOGG !
After the disappointment of the women’s race , can 1500m finalist Daniel Fogg grab a medal in the 10 km marathon swim. Whatever happens , he is proper hot.

3. SAILING MEDALS.
After delays from yesterday , we have the medal races in both the mens and womens 470 class. A minnimum of two silvers here , but the ladies have a great chance of gold.
4. BMX
Liam Phillips and Shanaze Reade go for gold today. Its gonna be close.
5. STEVENSON AND MUHAMMED
It is time for more Taekwondo , as the much loved Sarah Stevenson and the much ridiculed Lutalo Muhammed go for gold. After yesterdays shenanigans , anything is possible.
6. BOXING SEMI FINALS
With four semi finalists , what an enormous day this is for British boxing
1415 Luke Campbell stars as hot favourite against the Japanese Satoshi Shimizu
1500 GB’s surprise package Anthony Ogogo starts as outsider against a tough Brazilian opponent.
2130 Freddie Evans is up against it quite frankly against the Ukranian Shelestyuk
2245 Time for Anthony Joshua to show his class
Form suggests two finalists out of four. but these fights have been nothing if not unpredictable. Once more , a bit of Ogogo………..
7. ATHLETICS
The highlights tonight are the womens 1500m where Lisa Dobriskey has a finishers chance and the mens 4 x 400 where GB have a definite medal chance , despite having a poor record in this race in recent years. It is time for Jack Green to redeem himself after his disastrous 400m hurdles semi final.

A lot will need to go our way if its going to be as successful as yesterday. but it is not beyond the realms of possibility and a another fascinating varied day lies ahead. Enjoy x
WOW today we have a plethora of hunky men but not one them comes up to the standard of yesterday’s hunk of the day !!
